The Women’s League of Reading hosted another successful fundraising event on Friday October 18th at the Wakefield Lodge of Elks. The 5th annual Halloween Spooktacular raised over $3,500 for the League’s annual fund to be distributed in June at the conclusion of their fund-raising year. Past recipients have included local scholarships, Understanding Disabilities, Reading Education Foundation, Reading’s Police & Fire Departments, school PTOs, and Reading Elder Services. Special thanks to our event sponsors Susan Gormandy at Classified Realty Group, C.E. Floyd Company & Ravens Family Dental.
Attendees really outdid themselves this year with costumes. The competition was fierce but three winners emerged victorious: A Christmas Tree literally lit up the room for best individual costume, A Royal Tenenbaum themed get-up was crowned best couple, and The Elton Johns rocketed to the top of the charts for best group costume.
The Women’s League of Reading has been a fixture in Reading since 1950 with many notable women contributing to its success over the years. As the League approaches its 70th year of giving back to the community they encourage members of the community to do the same. Their biggest fundraising event of the year will be the Annual Gala and Silent Auction being held on March 7th, 2020. Please contact the President of the Women's League, Julie Silbovitz, at email@example.com if your business is interested in sponsoring this event or donating items to the auction.
